From Balance to Resurrection: The Promise Written in the Light

Dear Reader,

Today I was reflecting on the (Vernal) Equinox.  In this reflection I find symbolism that can be seen as a statement of Hope and Light.

March 21, 2026—a day when light and darkness stand equal.
Light and darkness share the same sky.

The ancients noticed this.   They paused for it. They honored it—because something about this moment feels true.

A World Held in Balance

There are seasons in life when we stand in that same place.

Not fully in darkness   but not yet in full light.

We carry both:

Hope for what is ahead

And the weight of what has been

And for a moment—like today—they feel equal.

In Christ’s Atonement, Balance Becomes Meaning.

This is what makes this season so sacred.

Because not far from this moment of balanccomes Easter.

Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026is not random.
It is tied to this very moment in the heavens  the first full moon after the spring equinox determines the date.

In this way, Easter becomes a moment when light and darkness meet.

At the crucifixion of Jesus Christ:

  • Darkness was real

  • Suffering was real

  • Loss was real

Yet so was something else.

  • Mercy.
    Forgiveness.
Love that did not turn away.

The Cross is where everything we carry— our failures, our fears, our past—
meets everything God offers,  Grace.

The Resurrection: When Balance Turns to Hope.

Then comes Easter morning.

Not balance anymore… but victory of light.

Not equal anymore… but darkness overcome.

“He is not here: for he is risen.” (Matthew 28:6)

What the equinox hints at… the Resurrection fulfills.

Balance becomes transformationHope becomes realityLife overcomes death

The Covenant: Living Between the Two Sacred Events

We live between the Cross and the Resurrection.

Between:

What we have been and what we are becoming

A covenant with our Heavenly Father is not about perfection.

It is choosing—daily—to:

  • Walk forward in hope (because of the Resurrection)

  • While humbly receiving grace (because of the Cross)

In recovery language:

  • We take the next step

  • While trusting we are not walking alone

So today—the equinox—teaches us something simple and true:

We are always living in both:

  • Hope for what God will yet do

  • Gratitude for what He has already done

And because of Jesus Christ…

  • We are not stuck in the balance.

  • We are being led through it.

Today, the world stands in balance.  Soon, light will overcome. And because of Christ…

so will we.
